who is a Razorback
Physical Fitness As a scholarship/contracted Razorback Army ROTC cadet, you are required participate in Army physical fitness training ("PT") three days per week. Physical Fitness Training is offered nine times per week: MON thru FRI from 6:30-7:30 a.m. and Mon thru THUR from 3:30 - 4:30 pm. This is you can fit PT into your class schedule and pick the three PT days most convenient for you. What we know is that a strong body enables a strong mind. As a non-contracted freshman or sophomore cadet, you are not required to attend PT, but we highly encourage it. PT is much more than a means to physical fitness; it is a way to enjoy the camaraderie, esprit de corps and unit cohesion that makes being an Army leader so unique. Academics As a cadet, academics are your #1 priority. Your mission is to excel in school and earn your bachelors degree in 4 years. Our cadets are pursuing baccalaureate degrees in the full spectrum of academic disciplines - Engineering, Business, Economics, Government/Political Science, Nursing, English, etc. The breadth of academic disciplines within the Army officer corps adds to the diversity that makes the corps and our Army strong. Leadership As a student-leader, you are receiving
leadership theory and knowledge in a classroom environment via your
weekly ROTC class and you are practicing leadership in weekly labs and
periodic field training. Cadets who enter the program as sophomores
attend a 28 day Leader Training Course (LTC) at Ft. Knox, KY between
their sophomore and junior years. Juniors attend "Warrior Forge", the
33-day ROTC Leader Development and Assessment Course (LDAC) at Ft. Lewis,
WA, between their Junior and Senior years. Cadets are paid for attending
each course. Cadets are also provided the opportunity to attend a variety
of Army skill courses like Airborne (Ft. Benning, GA), Air Assault (Ft.
Campbell, KY), Mountain Warfare (Colorado) or Northern Warfare (Alaska).
There is no other leadership institute or corporation in the world that
provides the quality leader development experience that US Army ROTC
provides. The Army assigns its best officers and NCOs to colleges and
universities across America and to cadre positions at LTC and LDAC each
summer to provide continuous teaching, coaching and mentoring of cadets.
